Do not walk if you are feeling unwell. Carry your own hand sanitiser. In case of an emergency ensure you have with you a face mask and first aid pack.
Inevitably, the route will go through gates and over stiles that other people will have touched. It may have narrow sections that mean you will be passing close to other people.
The walk begins in the car park on Chestnut Court behind the Rising Sun. We walk through the centre of Tarporley across a field and onto Cobblers Cross Road. We follow quiet country lanes by the side of Portal Golf Course until we reach Ridge Hill in Utkinton eventually joining the Sandstone Trail.
Sections of the Sandstone Trail can be muddy in parts and so good footwear is essential.
The Sandstone Trail winds through fields and woods until we reach Tiverton (first mentioned in the Dooomsday Book as Tevretone) Tiverton is an attractive village with good views across to Beeston Castle. We pass through the heart of the village and the village hall, and then cut back across the Townfields path crossing agricultural land and returning to Tarporley.
