From the parking area at Derbyshire Bridge we follow the quiet lane northwards down into the Goyt valley before branching left (west) through woodland to cross Deep Clough and Stake Clough. Here the path steepens up beside a wall towards Stake Farm. A good path then climbs to the summit of Shining Tor from where, cloud permitting, we can enjoy excellent views across to Shutlingsloe.
The continuation north over Cats Tor is on a good path, much of it flags and makes for easy walking to meet the minor road at Pym Chair. A path alongside the road leads down to the Errwood reserviour dam which we cross. Circling round the little mound of Bunsal Cob, we pick up a path that makes its way southwards above the reservoir and back up the valley to Goyt’s Moss. At this point, we climb again to Berry Clough before meeting up with the old coach road coming over from Buxton which we follow back to the cars at Derbyshire Bridge
