Starting from the layby, we have a short walk along the road to pick up the Snowdonia Slate Trail which we follow for approximately 2km to reach a path heading north to reach the peak of .Pen yr Helgi Du. From here, we head east along the ridge to reach the summit of Pen Llithrig y Wrach, our highest point at 799 metres. Heading south, we then descend a pathless route down the ridge to pick up a path then southwest to once again meet the Snowdonia Slate Trail, which leads us back to the cars.
