We head S. out of Betws-y-Coed across Waterloo Bridge, then climb on a good path heading E. to Garthmyn. The route then climbs up to the summit of Mynydd Garthmyn, where, weather permitting, the views are outstanding. Redescending the hill, we head S.E. over pasture towards Capel Garmon village, and after a short section on lane, we rejoin the right of way past the burial chamber excavations, heading S. to Penrhyddion. The return section climbs gently, following an old bridleway N.E. back over heath, and then through woodlands to Waterloo Bridge, and back to the start of the walk.
