We set off west then south from the Crown pub at Trelawnyd to pick up the Clwydian Way heading west. This ancient track meanders by woodland and after a few km meets Offa’s Dyke path and we head NW. A slight detour takes us to the viewpoint of Graig Fawr. We now head NE on Offa’s Dyke for a few km with views down to Prestatyn. The path is good though muddy and greasy at times and we traverse some very steep sections at times.
Paths heading E then SE over rolling grassy fields bring us to the base of Gop Hill which we climb before returning to the Crown pub.
This is barely a Red by distance / ascent but underfoot conditions at times are awkward, care is required on paths which traverse steep slopes and there are a number of tricky stiles.
