The trail begins in Rhyd Ddu and ascends to four peaks on the Nantlle Ridge before descending back to the trailhead, finishing with a beautiful forest walk through Coedwig Beddgelert.
The first peak we will tackle is Y Garn (Nantlle Ridge) which involves a steep ascent to the summit. Although the gradient is easier on the next section, it’s a challenging walk as it requires navigating along the rocky ridge and some good scrambling. It gets very exposed as we head to the next peak of Myndd Drws-Y-Coed and requires a good head for heights. The third summit is along a grassy track to Trum Y Ddysgk, the highest peak on the route and offers breathtaking views.
Finally, we proceed up to Mynydd Tal-y-Mignedd and the Obelisk before retracing our steps along the ridge back towards Trum Y Ddysgl and heading down the south ridge towards Y Gyrn, skirting the edge of the woods. When reaching Bwlch-y-Ddwy-elor, we will take the path through Coedwig Beggelert and continue to descend through woodland back to Rhyd Ddu.
