We set off from the car park down to the village where we join the right of way heading SW towards Nant Heilyn woods, enjoying, weather permitting, excellent views over the Menai Straits to Anglesey and Puffin island.
At the woods we climb S on a steeper section to join the Pilgrims Way on the North Wales Path, on which we make our way NE along the lower slopes of Moel Wnion towards the top of the west side of Afon Rhaeadr valley. Now we continue S, cross Afon Gam and head E to the lesser and then main 70m falls.
From here we make our way back N on a well-established path down the E river bank to the car park.
