A pleasant local walk taking in a section of the Shropshire Union Canal, country lanes and fields passing by Beeston Castle. The Lock Side Coffee House is open and thus those who wish to end the walk with tea coffee and cakes can do so.

Do not walk if you are feeling unwell. Carry your own hand sanitiser. In case of an emergency ensure you have with you a face mask and first aid pack.
Inevitably, the route will go through gates and over stiles that other people will have touched. It may have narrow sections that mean you will be passing close to other people.
We begin from the carpark and walk along the canal. As we make our way towards Beeston staircase we pass by some unusual canal features including an iron lock. On reaching the staircase we walk briefly up the lane towards Bunbury before we take a westerly route across fields and along lanes passing Bunbury and on towards Beeston. Here we skirt around the edge of the castle and then take a path downhill across fields which leads us back to the canal. We then return to our start passing Whartons lock along the way.
