From our starting point we cross the River Alyn then head towards the Big Covert woods. We then turn off the well-maintained track to climb steeply to reach the first of our peaks, Bryn Alyn, with good views of the limestone pavement and Clwydian range.

We then head north, under Nercwys Mountain, through Tir-y-Coed towards our second peak, Moel Findeg, and on a clear day we will have good views over the Cheshire Plain, Wirral and the waterfront in Liverpool. We descend to the village of Maeshafn and then make our way back to Big Covert woods and return to the cars.

There will be an opportunity for refreshment either in the village of Maeshafn or at the end of our walk.
