This is a blue plus walk to ‘bag’ the Marilyn of Carnedd y Filiast, near Cerrigydrudion on the border of the Snowdonia National Park. The ascent is fairly easy but there are some boggy sections in the second part of the walk so good boots are essential!

From the layby, we head back east along the road to begin the ascent of Carnedd y Filiast on an excellent track that climbs steadily and easily (except for stepping stones across a stream!) all the way to the summit to achieve the Marilyn.
We then follow a clear fence line, walking in a westerly direction, across rough terrain with some boggy sections. Fortunately, there is an elevated non-boggy spot for lunch! The next path heads broadly south back towards Lynn Celyn with a short section of quiet road and a very pleasant walk through woodland to return to the cars.
On a clear day, we will have excellent views, including Arenig Fach and the Rhinogs to the west, Snowden and Moel Siabod to the northwest and the Clwydian range to the northeast.
This walk is planned for a bank holiday weekend so I have made it an early start to avoid traffic!
