Charity Blue – Tarporley to Utkinton

A pleasant walk which passes through fields and along tracks, bridleways and country lanes, including a section along the Sandstone Trail. On a clear day there are great views of Beeston castle, the Cheshire Plain and across into Wales and the Clwydian Range.

No dogs allowed

Beginning the walk from Cobblers Cross Lane, we walk briefly along the road before taking a footpath over fields which lead on to Tarporley high street. After walking along the side of St Helen’s church we again take footpaths that take us out of the village and down to the Sandstone Trail.
We travel North along the trail for the next few miles, passing along the edge of Ash Wood, Oxpasture Wood and Fisher Green, until we reach Utkinton. Skirting around the edge of the village we head on towards Willington, taking in great views of Beeston castle and gradually ascending as we go. Crossing St Johns Road, we take a bridle path which gradually leads us up to our high point of the morning near to Primrose Woods. Turning right along the lane we continue for several minutes until we reach a footpath which passes by Tirley Garth and takes us down to a road. Here we almost immediately take another footpath which leads across fields and up to Tirley Lane. From here it is a brief 10 minute walk to the end of our route.

Please Note that precise details of the start, finish and transport back to the BBQ will be shared on the Club’s WhatsApp Community Group for the walk.
