The aim is to get back to Di and Nev’s by 13:30 for the picnic.
The section of the walk through Pennsylvania Woods to Stanner Nab has not been recce’d.
We head off N passing the Pheasant Inn (a destination for another time) turning W to take the Eddisbury Way to Outlanes Farm. We turn to walk alongside Pennsylvania Woods then across fields before doubling back on ourselves to walk through the woods until we reach the Sanstone Trail.
We now have a short stiff climb up to Stanner Nab in the grounds of Peckforton Castle. From there we follow the path down to the Lodge on Stone House Lane. At the lane we turn south before turning SW crossing fields to Hill Lane. We climb the lane for a short distance before continuing SW through Peckforton Hill woods to the Sandstone Trail.
We follow the Trail S before descending again passing to the E then S of Bulkeley Hill where we ascend to and cross Coppermine Lane. Our last section takes us across fields to Sara Lane and up the hill to the cars.
