We leave the village of Longnor and head northwest along the Dove Valley crossing the River Dove twice before arriving at Hollinsclough village. From here we cross the valley and head onto the slopes of Hollins Hill, at the top of which the dramatic Dragons Back of Chrome Hill can be seen.
We continue along the track passing Tor Hill before making the northeast approach to Chrome Hill. Following the undulating Dragon’s Back we cross a road at the pass and proceed up the rocky outcrop summit of Parkhouse Hill the make our way around Hitter Hill to reach the village of Earl Sterndale. Parkhouse Hill requires some scrambling. Sure footedness, a good level of fitness and a head for heights are needed. At the top all the effort is rewarded with spectacular views all round.
Head across High Wheeldon and make the steep descent to cross the River Dove then continue across fields back to Longnor where cafes, pubs and public toilets can be found
