Circular walk from Delamere passing Norley, Stonyford & Hornby’s Rough

A pleasant walk which passes through forest, and along tracks, fields and bridle paths taking in stretches of the Delamere Way and the Oakmere Way. At the time of the recce the ground was good under foot, with few muddy sections. The Walk reaches the edges of Norley before heading East and then South down to the Whitegate Way before passing by Manor Pool and Delamere Golf Club before returning to the forest.

2 dogs allowed

We begin the walk by passing through the forest to reach Harthill Bank where we pick up the Delamere Way. Shortly after we reach open countryside with lovely views. After dropping down across fields and through a collection of farm buildings we reach a quiet lane. Here we turn right and following the meandering and leafy lane until its end. After a brief walk along a further road we head South and travel down a track which eventually brings us out at the Westerly end of the Whitegate Way. After a short distance we pick up the Oakmere Way which takes us through woodland, open grassy tracks and finally down towards Delamere Station. From here it is a brief walk before we turn off on a forest track that leads us back to the start.

Terrain:
Predominantly on tracks, bridlepaths and grassy open tracks. There are a few stiles, but the terrain overall makes for easy walking.
