Dane Valley and The Roaches

This is a very easy Red only just making the grade, in a lovely area of the Peak District. Some of leaders that did the navigation refresher recently honed their skills on some of these paths and it reminded me what a wonderful landscape we have on our doorstep.

The route is figure of eight of two halves, we will leave Roach Road and head for a loop around Hen Could, then head North passing Shawtop Farm all fairly level. We then turn West with a short ascent up on to the Roaches, and turn right to continue along them. We drop down from the Roaches to Bearstone Rock and on to Forest Wood along side Black Brook then the Dane Valley unitil we reach Danebridge. We will then make our way back to the start passing Hanging Stone and because it’s so nice we return along the Roaches, that we involve another gentle ascent, in the opposite direction for a different perspective returning to Roach Road.
