Just into the Blue+ category, in fine weather this walk offers splendid views of the Dee and Llynor valleys, as well as the upper Ceiriog valley from the cairn at the top of Pen Bwlch Llandrillo. The ascents are generally even and sustained following old drovers’ routes.

No dogs allowed
From the car park in Llandrillo, we climb NE on lanes to join the bridleway to the summit as the route turns gradually SE towards the pass between the Dee and Ceiriog valleys, near Careg-y-Caws.
We then descend W for a short distance on the same drovers’ road before branching NW towards Rhos-y-maerdy. Our route thereafter leaves the bridleway and heads SW through Coed-y-Glyn woods towards a bridge over the Llynor, crossing farmland before returning to Llandrillo.
