Starting from Trefriw we climb sharply and head up the beautiful Crafnant valley through varied woodland and old quarry workings to reach the northern end of Llyn Geirionydd, where we pick up a track over a rise passing disused mine and quarry workings to reach Llyn Crafnant. We circuit the reservoir on a good track then climb steadily up through woods and over the saddle back to the southern end of Llyn Geirionydd.
From there we ascend on good tracks to our high point of the day and to the 6th Century church at Llanrhychwyn. We now head west descending on good tracks but also over farming fields, through woods and some very steep slippery sections by streams taking us towards the Conwy valley.
The walk is completed by following the Afon Conwy back to Trefriw
Route may vary on day due to fallen trees
