A lovely river walk commencing at the Loggerheads Country Park walking along the River Alyn and returning via a quite country lane through the area of outstanding natural beauty below Moel Famau. The country park café has an excellent selection of cakes for afternoon tea.

We begin the walk in the Loggerheads Country Park car park (payment £5 all day). Following the River Alyn, we walk along the river path until reaching a foot bridge across. In wet weather, the steps descending to the bridge can be slippy so waking boots are needed although there is a handrail.
Continuing along the river for a further 2 km reaching the bridge over the Alyn near Hesp Alyn and taking the attractive country lane towards Cilcain. After a short uphill pull, we join a footpath traversing fields and woods until rejoining a road below Cilcain.
We follow quiet country lanes back to Loggerheads country park for the return journey.

If you become detached from the group STOP, call out; try contacting group by phone or text. If no contact return to the last place you were with the group. Wait 30 mins repeatedly trying to make contact. After 30 mins seek help and/or make your own way safely.
