The walk begins near the base of Pistyll Rhaeadr, the highest waterfall in Wales which is reached by a narrow road from Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant.
We walk N from the car park up the E side of of Nant y Llyn valley climbing steadily until we reach Llyn Lluncaws. We head W up onto The Berwyn ridge and then continue N passing Moel Sych (827m) and the Cadair Berwyn (also 827m and the Marilyn).
We then retrace our route but stay on the ridge, descending steadily, until we near the top of the waterfall. We head upstream along Afon Disgynfa and then cross over and head SE and then S to descend into the valley. It’s then a short walk through woodland back to the car park and Cafe.
