We start the walk at small roadside car park on a country lane about 0.6km west of Cilcain Church.
We walk back into Cilcain and then take a familiar path SW and the S which climbs steeply to Moel Famau and the Jubilee Tower. There are excellent views all round from the tower which is at the highest point of the range (554 m). We follow the ridge WNW for about a kilometre before descending steadily towards Llangynhafal and then on a balcony path North until we climb back towards the ridge on a NE path towards the high point of the pass near Moel Arthur. After the steep climb to the top of Moel Arthur and its small but impressive Iron Age fort we follow the Offa’s Dyke path a little further N (more views towards Liverpool and the Wirral) before returning by a lower path to the pass. There is a steep climb back on to the main ridge and then 1.5 km on the ridge before we turn off on the track back towards Cilcain and the car park.
