Vale of Llangollen Circuit

A good walk for a Winter day from Llangollen, through the hills to the south of the Dee, to Froncysyllte and its famous canal aquaduct. The return route follows the Offas Dyke Path to the north of the river with beautiful views over the valley and then to Castell Dinas Bran and back to Llangollen.

No dogs allowed

Beginning at the Market Street car park in Llangollen, we walk east out of the town and then through Pen-y-coed woods before climbing steeply to join the Ceiriog Trail which we stay on for 2 km. We descend gradually on quiet lanes and footpaths through Pen-y-graig and then down to Froncysyllte and the canal path across the aquaduct. If the weather is good this can be quite busy,

We start on our way back through Trevor and then follow the Offa’s Dyke Path on an easy uphill section through woods and onto the Panorama Walk. If we have time we finish the walk by climbing up to Castell Dinas Bran and then back to the town.
