SUMMARY:Blue Charity Walk
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 12 July 2026\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n No dogs allowed \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The route takes us along a quiet road above Kelsall to our first footpath which leads us to little Switzerland and down close to The Boot (pub)\, too early to take refreshments! We then skirt Willington village and ascend up past Pearl Hole to Tirley Lane where we join the Sandstone Trail briefly at Summertrees. We follow the path through Primrose Wood and then traverse the Cross Country Course at Organsdale before crossing the A54 and the A556 then up Stoney Lane to walk towards Delamere Forest on the Roman Road. We enter the forest briefly before turning left to again join the Sandstone Trail at Gresty’s Waste\, which we follow through Primrose Wood before turning off to return to the car park\, hopefully in good time to join our party at Paula and Ian’s house. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Join the relevant OHWC Community Group to book the walk. The recce was done in shorts with no stinging nettles or briars evident at the time last week\, but they do grow! Steep descent and ascent while passing Gresty’s Waste on the Sandstone Trail otherwise fairly gentle gradients. Cross field with fairly long grass at Organsdale Equestrian Centre but likely to have been harvested before our walk.\n\n \n Map/Area:\nOS Explorer 267 Northwich and Delamere Forest\n\n \n Starting Point:\nKing’s Gate car park\, off Waste Lane\, Kelsall\n\n \n What3Words:\n///organ.arose.tester\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Walk Starts:\n09:30\nWalk Finishes:\n12:15\n\n \n Distance:\n8km\nAscent:\n200m\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Highest Point:\n160m\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Safety\n \n \n \n \n \n Let the walk leader know of any relevant medical conditions \nRefer to the Handbook for walk related information and specifically for recommended walking equipment https://ohwc.org.uk/kit-list/ and safety information https://ohwc.org.uk/safety/ \nRemember you are responsible for being properly equipped \nEnsure you have the walk leader’s phone number in case of an emergency \n \n \n \n \n \n Let the walk leader know of any relevant medical conditions \nRefer to the Handbook for walk related information and specifically for recommended walking equipment and safety information \nRemember you are responsible for being properly equipped \nEnsure you have the walk leader’s phone number in case of an emergency \n \n \n \n \n \n If you become detached from the group STOP\, call out; try contacting group by phone or text. SUMMARY:Arnside
DESCRIPTION:Arnside is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you take a walk to the top of Arnside Knott you will be rewarded with delightful views over the Kent estuary towards the Lakeland hills. The surrounding countryside offers many attractive walks and places to explore. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Green\, Blue & Red \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 30 Sept – 3 Oct 2026 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n These four walking days are at a new location for us\, the Parkside Guest House\, Arnside\, Cumbria. \nFollow this link Parkside Guest House to read more about where you will be staying. \nThe cost per person for this holiday will be £260 for three nights including dinner\, bed\, breakfast and packed lunch. The food is wholesome with choices. \nAll the rooms are en-suite\, have tea-making facilities and can be booked as single or double rooms with no single supplement. \nArnside & Silverdale National Landscape is an area we haven’t visited as a group before and is close to RSPB Leighton Moss (bring your binoculars). \nWe intend to offer Green\, Blue and Red walks (we will probably need to drive to the start of the reds). \nFor those who don’t want to walk\, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are nearby. Arnside station is a short walk from the property with trains to Grange over Sands and Cartmel to the north or Carnforth and Morecambe to the south. \nPlease join the OHWC Community Arnside Group to indicate an interest\, and for further information about the event as it materialises. \nThe location of the Parkside Guest House is shown on the map below.
