SUMMARY:Circular Walk from Burwardsley over Peckforton Moss
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 2 September 2026\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 2 dogs allowed \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n From the car park we walk E through Peckforton Hills\, then descend into the village where we can see the iconic Peckforton Estate cottages. We pick up the path going NW over Peckforton Mosses towards Beeston Moss. This path is particularly interesting. I saw lots of butterflies\, wildflowers\, a kestrel and hundreds of swallows swooping for insects in the rough grass. We then head NW towards Willis’s Wood. At this point here are great views of both Beeston and Peckforton Castles.When we reach Stone House Lane\, we turn left to join the Sandstone Trail and gently ascend back to Burwardsley for a well-deserved lunch.If you would like to stay for refreshments after the walk or if you would just like to join us at The Pheasant could you let me know by Thursday 27th August please. \nNB. A £10 non-refundable deposit is required at The Pheasant. I will pay the deposits on Friday 28th August. You can repay me on the day. \n \n \n \n \n \n Join the relevant OHWC Community Group to book the walk. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Terrain:\nUndulating grassland which is very dry and hard (at the moment!). SUMMARY:Arnside
DESCRIPTION:Arnside is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you take a walk to the top of Arnside Knott you will be rewarded with delightful views over the Kent estuary towards the Lakeland hills. The surrounding countryside offers many attractive walks and places to explore. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Green\, Blue & Red \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 30 Sept – 3 Oct 2026 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n These four walking days are at a new location for us\, the Parkside Guest House\, Arnside\, Cumbria. \nFollow this link Parkside Guest House to read more about where you will be staying. \nThe cost per person for this holiday will be £260 for three nights including dinner\, bed\, breakfast and packed lunch. The food is wholesome with choices. \nAll the rooms are en-suite\, have tea-making facilities and can be booked as single or double rooms with no single supplement. \nArnside & Silverdale National Landscape is an area we haven’t visited as a group before and is close to RSPB Leighton Moss (bring your binoculars). \nWe intend to offer Green\, Blue and Red walks (we will probably need to drive to the start of the reds). \nFor those who don’t want to walk\, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are nearby. Arnside station is a short walk from the property with trains to Grange over Sands and Cartmel to the north or Carnforth and Morecambe to the south. \nPlease join the OHWC Community Arnside Group to indicate an interest\, and for further information about the event as it materialises. \nThe location of the Parkside Guest House is shown on the map below.
