The Club has established a WhatsApp Community site and uses it for day-to-day communication with members. The Community is exclusive to members and entry to the Community is by invitation only.
Announcements are made in the Community about future events (typically walks and social). Also, the Community has specific Groups for each event. If you are interested in participating in the event you may join the specific Community Group and can share with other interested members.
By joining the group associated with a particular event or walk, you will have notified the walk leader that you will be joining that walk; consequently there is no need to separately notify the walk leader by email. Note that when you join you will not see prior posts from other members in the group, only future posts. The walk leader will use this group to make any relevant arrangements such as for car sharing and meeting location etc.
Announcements can only be made by a Committee member.
WhatsApp Privacy Policy applies to the Community.
You may leave the Community anytime you wish.
Please use good practice etiquette if you post a message to the Community (it will go to all members). Innocuous posts such as “Can anybody recommend a good plumber?”, “I have a spare ticket for …..” are acceptable. A post in the vein of “We had a fab weeks holiday in Bognor with the grand kids and we would like to share these 50 pics with you.” would be frowned upon. Abuse will not be tolerated.
You will remain in the community unless you:
- leave the club;
- choose to opt out;
- do not confirm by email that you wish your personal details to be included on the OHWC’s database when the club asks for such verification; or
- misuse the community guidelines set out above.
